Kuva Liches Explained

This is how to most effectively farm a Kuva Lich.

Prep Stage

You will need some things sorted out and ready to go, BEFORE you being your Lich. If this is your first Lich and you accidentally started it, don’t worry, we will sort you out.

Do not be worried about having an r5 Lich, they are not a mark of poor performance, they happen for many RNG reasons, they are easy to get. Lucky for us they stop growing at r5. It is just an r5 Lich and that desires to give you its weapon.

Things to have prior to starting a Lich:

  1. A Railjack that can survive Saturn Proxima.
  2. A strong frame that is the Progenitor of the element you want.
  3. Resistance mods and/or arcanes vs the element you have selected with your Progenitor.
  4. Time of about 3 hours for an average full Lich run.

Acquisition Stage

Now that you have your gear set and you do not have a Lich started yet, here are your next steps:

  1. Take your progenitor frame of choice and do the SATURN/CASSINI mission SOLO.
  2. In this mission, run straight in to the capture target avoiding everything else and capture the target.
  3. After the capture, begin to slow walk/slam attack step move towards the exit, killing everything as fast as possible. Go for the larger groups of enemy. 80% of the time you will get a screen flash signal that your kills will start counting to spawn a Lich, if no screen flash keep killing until you exit, the screen flash animation may or may not fire. You have a limited about of time to get the kill count, then the Lich Larvling will spawn with a red navigation marker.
  4. You can stop killing at this point, when the Larvling nav marker appears. Now run to the red nav marker.
  5. Kill the larvling and move close to it, until the weapon it has spawned is displayed above it’s head.
  • If that is the weapon you want or need, press and hold your action button to start that Lich.
  • Else leave the larvling alive and go to the exit and complete the mission.
  1. Run to the exit and complete the mission. Note: Still complete the mission even if you do not activate that larvling Lich, because it is not the weapon you want, you still need to drop it from the rotation of the loot table for your current game session. This will matter more if you wish to valence a Kuva Weapon.

After you exit the mission you will have a little message from your Lich and now a red Lich square button will appear in the lower right hand side of your navigation screen. You will use that button to check on the things about your Lich. You now have a Lich, so let’s see what you have, do this by going to navigation and pressing that red Lich button.

You want to make note of these things:

  1. The name of your Lich. This will matter in the next stages and while doing missions with a squad.
  2. The weaknesses or resistances that your Lich might have. These are random and not always present. Mod for them.
  3. Anger level of your Lich, (“Indifferent → Annoyed → Fuming → Furious → Enraged”) this determines the chance that your Lich will spawn in mission, to give you a chance to stab it with your parazon finisher, to check your requiem mod order.

Begin To Solve For Your Lich Requiems

Now you that you have started your Lich, begin farming murmurs with a full squad, on planet missions that have red cloud cover and Lich missions in addition to normal missions. You will farm the murmurs to reveal the requiems you need to vanquish your Lich. Killing the murmurs also is how you enrage your Lich anger level higher and higher to get them to spawn for you.

If you have any requiem mods already, then put whatever you have on your parazon in any order to start, does not matter, you don’t know anyting about what they are or the order they will go in, this is just incase you accidentally stab your Lich in an early mission for one RNG reason or another accidentally before you were ready to do it.

If you have a Oull requiem mod, put it last in the 3rd slot. You will want to do the guess work sooner than later, the Oull position does not change your RNG odds, it can speed up your progress if used.

Do the Lich missions on Earth, do not stab your Lich until you know what two of your requiem mods are and have them equipped on your parazon. Do Lich missions in this order:

Mission Priority Order

  1. Capture
  2. Rescue
  3. Sabotage
  4. Exterminate
  5. Excavation
  6. Assault
  7. Defense
  8. Survival
  9. Mobile Defense

First Stab On Earth

You have stabbed your Lich for the first time, here is the requiem outcome and next steps based on these requiem results:

First Stab Results Change Step
RNG is on your side, your done. Go to Saturn Proxima for your final confrontation with your r1 Lich.
Your first slot is correct, leave that mod in that slot. Move your second mod to your third slot, that is where it goes. Possible Ultimatum use if you have an Oull mod and a Requiem Ultimatum
Your first slot is not that known mod. Move the first mod to the second slot. Move the second mod to the first slot.

Possible Ultimatum Use After Your First Stab

If you have an Ultimatum equipped on your gear wheel and your Earth stab was “Right Wrong Oull”, you will do Mars with one mission only. Set your parazon requiem mods and Oull based on your stab in this order “Right Oull Wrong”, then enter the Capture mission solo, move into the mission a short distance (25m+), deploy your Ultimatum, be ready, you will be attacked by your Lich immediately! Now stab for a guaranteed r2 Lich and your off to Saturn Proxima.

Second Stab On Mars

You have stabbed your Lich for the second time, here is the requiem outcome and next steps based on the requiem results:

Your first slot is correct, leave that mod in that slot. Move your second mod to your third slot, that is where it goes. Possible Ultimatum if you have an Oull mod or you know your third mod and you have a Requiem Ultimatum

Possible Ultimatum Use After Your Second Stab

If you have an Ultimatum equipped on your gear wheel and your Mars stab was “Right Wrong Oull” or “Right Wrong Wrong”, you will do Ceres with one mission only. Set your parazon requiem mods and Oull/Third based on your stab reversing the second and third mods used in your stab, then enter the Capture mission solo, move into the mission a short distance (25m+), deploy your Ultimatum, be ready, you will be attacked by your Lich immediately! Now stab for a guaranteed r2 Lich. Go to Saturn Proxima.

Third Stab On Ceres

You have stabbed your Lich for the Third time, here is the requiem outcome and next steps based on the requiem results:

Your done with an r3 Lich. Go to Saturn Proxima.

Confront Your Lich

  1. Equip your Omni on your gear wheel. The Omni Gear item is a multipurpose tool mainly used to repair hazards that occur whenever the ship takes damage. It is automatically given after completing The Archwing and can be slotted into the gear wheel, although if the player neglects to equip the Omni it will appear on the first empty slot of the wheel when starting an Empyrean mission.
  2. Equip resistance mods vs the element of your Lich.
  3. Equip weapons with damage your Lich is weak against.

Start your railjack mission on Saturn Proxima, kill the fighters, kill the crew ships, fly to the gallion, exit the air lock, then enter the gallion. Run straight in to fight your Lich, and then Vanquish it for the weapon, or convert it to be a railjack crewmate.

If you Vanquish your Lich, you will get a message in your in box with your Kuva weapon, take your time and “walk” in game to your foundry to “claim” your weapon, this avoids a bug in the game where you can lose your weapon if you use the fast travel menu to get to the foundry (personal experience 2 times).
